Book Review: The Presentation of Self in Everyday Life
The Presentation of Self in Everyday Life by Erving Goffman
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
I find that the analogy between performing on a stage and social interaction to be very accurate. Despite, however, all the contextual masks we wear in everyday life; actions, scripts, and facades put up by the wearer are still guided by one underlying principle: core values. Although not as emphasized in the book, Erving Goffman does a great job pointing this out.
